School Staff

Pat Austin
Interim director Pat Austin is a Learning Academy board member who has 25 years of teaching experience. She has extensive experience in special education, as well as in the areas of training, mediation, public relations, and budgeting, among others. Pat and her husband Hugh are active participants in the College Park community, including College Park First United Methodist Church. Please join me in thanking pat for her willingness to support our school during this transition.

Valencia Fields
Valencia is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She has worked in corporate America for 20 years. She is a mother of four children. Working for The Learning Academy of College Park has provided her with great joy; just being around the children is such a pleasure for her. She loves their honesty and their creative thinking.

Ivy Young-Culberson
Ivy comes to The Learning Academy with approximately 27 years of early childhood education experience. She has managed early childcare centers such as Bright Horizons, Little Flyers, and others. In previous years, Ivy has worked as teacher, program coordinator, and director. She has great respect for the multitude of creative learning experiences that we, as adults, share with children as they develop and learn through their play.

Ann E. Morgan
Ann is originally from Louisville, Ky. and has lived in Atlanta for 20 years. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Louisville where she majored in psychology. After spending more than 20 years in corporate America, she left her job to pursue teaching young children, and has spent the last eight years fulfilling this dream teaching ages 2, 3, and 4 years. Ann believes that reading is fundamental to the success of young children in school. She ensures that each child is read to out loud daily from infants to pre-K, and loves watching their reactions to the stories.

Viveca Lovett
Viveca is so excited to be a part of the Learning Academy family. A pastor’s wife, mother of three and grandmother of four, Viveca has a BA in Biblical education and a diploma in early childhood education. She has served as the director of a regional childcare facility and has taught in childcare centers and public schools for over 15 years. It is her goal to share the love of God with the Waddling Ones and their families while facilitating each child’s mental, physical and spiritual development with age-appropriate activities

Anna Mayhew
Anna is ecstatic about her work at the Learning Academy. She earned a BA from Atlanta Christian College where she majored in Biblical studies and minored in music and Christian education. Anna discovered her passion for young children while working at Christian City’s Children’s Village, where she cared for children whose previous homes were anything from disturbing to desperate. She also worked at Southwest Christian Care as a pediatric nursing assistant with special needs and medically fragile children. She is newly married and attends College Park First United Methodist. She is a teacher in the infant room and enjoys every moment!

Kenya Dorsey
Kenya came to Georgia in 1991 from Alexandria, La. A mother of three children, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. She joins the Learning Academy with nine years of experience working in childcare facilities.

Shawan Douglas
Shawan is a native of Louisiana and a mother of three. With 20 years of experience in early childhood education, she has worked with children from infants to pre-K, and believes strongly in their ability to learn through play. She loves working with children and observing their creative thinking.

Joyce Smith
Joyce has 10 years of experience working with children of all ages. She is currently finishing her degree as a paralegal, and would love to one day practice family law.

Lorraine Gray
A native of College Park, Lorrie has five years of early childhood teaching experience and currently teaches part-time in the Terrific Twos. Lorrie’s dedication to teaching and caring for young children is evident. She is the loyal babysitter for many families in the College Park area!
