Theme I: Anansi Stories

Through reading, math, social studies, journaling, science, languages, arts, music and drama each child will discover and explore Ghana’s oldest story of a tricky spider known as ANANSI.   Each story provides your child with the opportunity to reflect on their own character and their relationship with others. At the end of the three weeks your child will recreate an Anansi tale.

Dates: June 9th through June 27th

Field Trip: Atlanta Zoo (ages 3 years and older with parent participation: 100% participation for 2 year olds)

Theme II: Water World

Why is water important? Who lives in the water? How can we conserve water? These are just a few questions that your child will research during this thematic unit. As a cumulative project each class will have to present a project that demonstrates the importance of water, provides evidence of the water world, or supports the conservation of water.

Dates: June 30th through July 18th 

Field Trip: College Park Library, Aquarium (ages 3 years and older with parent participation: 100% participation for 2 year olds)

Vacation Bible School: During the week of July 7-11, College Park First UMC will offer VBS to children three years and older with a “Beach Party” theme, learning about the Beatitudes and having fun with beach-themed crafts and activities!  Your child’s participation is optional, at no additional charge, from 9-12 each day that week.  If you would like your child to participate, VBS registration forms will be available beginning June 1 from the church (404.766.6294).

Theme III: The Olympics

As we celebrate the Olympics this summer, your child will visit Greece and discover the origins of this celebrated occasion.  Cheer your child on as we recreate the games of the past and present during our own TLA 2008 Olympics.

Dates: July 21st through to August 1st  

Field Trip: Field Day at the Park (ages 3 years and older with parent participation: 100% participation for 2 year olds)
